Robert Rauschenberg - Erased De Kooning
Robert Rauschenberg (born Milton Ernst Rauschenberg; (October 22, 1925 – May 12, 2008) was an American artist who came to prominence in the 1950s transition from Abstract Expressionism (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abstract_Expressionism) to Pop Art (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pop_Art). Rauschenberg is well-known for his Combines (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Combine_painting) of the 1950s, in which non-traditional materials and objects were employed in innovative combinations.

Real footage of Pollock painting
This is actual footage of Jackson Pollock painting and talking about his work. You get a great sense of his intensity. Pollock didn't like doing interviews and became impatient with people that didn't understand what he was doing.

Pollock the Movie
This is one of the best movies I've seen on Pollock, it gave me an insight into his art and his neurosis. Ed Harris is amazing in this film, he also directed it so the viewer could have a sense of context for the abstract expressionist movement. Harris wanted to make this film for years and I congratulate him!

Notes
Symbols only represent the superficial axis of what we see, not the spirit of human activity. Notes is a series of transparent images layered over other transparent images to suggest a sort infinite boundary for expression. Human perception is what drives these images leaving it up to the viewer to describe their experience.
The flying squares are an anchor of suggestion to a context for this composition.

Changing the perception of movement is a reaction of colour. My self imposed formula is derived from a form meeting space and changing to meet spacial requirements.Eventually the Flying Square will become the same as its surroundings, adapting not disappearing.

The Pop Art era?
What is Pop Art
Pop Art is a 20th century art movement that emulated commercial imagery and reproductions of everyday objects. It was said that Pop art started in the late1950's as a reaction to Abstract Expressionism and flourished in the sixties and early seventies in Britain and the United States.

I particularly like this quote by Picasso because it describes every artists quest for simplicity through maturity.
All children are artists. The problem is how to remain an artist once he grows up.

Boy Girl Boy
This piece is about colour and the dynamics of colour. These things that exist on these planes have linear movement based on placement alone. When contrasting and complimentary colour is added each image begins to vibrate using the picture plane as a conduit for movement. The positioning of each square determines it's dynamic elements which affects the viewers comfort or discomfort with the composition.

I think much of the general population has the impression that art is based on aesthetic values and not world class values which contradicts the idea that some of the greatest critical thinkers of all time have been artists.

This is the last of the inception of this series, yet to be named. The concept is movement and yet, these objects walk a thin line that could be considered static.

colours seem to establish a foundation for these early pieces which leaves allot of room for experimentation.

1 of 3
This is one of three paintings created 3-4 years ago that has those things moving in space. The black background is very void-like, I'm not really sure if the coloured squares are more or less dynamic with a black ground. I like the tension between the squares, the viewer is forced to assume they are on a collision course.

This is where it started
This is a painting that I did 3-4 years ago with intentions of creating a series. It's quite large, about 4-5feetx3-4 feet. The texture is wild and there is tons of paint on this piece. I used an old painting which was on Mahogany door skin, so the edges a ragged and the painting it's self is quite heavy.

Performance of a Cluttered Mind
Sitting around waiting for things to start I NOTICED something moving at the base of my chair.
I looked down and there was nothing. As I elevated my head I caught the same movement AGAIN out of the corner of my eye. I looked down again only to see a shadow of a chair with the face of a guitar being leaned up against its edge by a big hand. Having never seen such detail in a shadow before I etched it in my mind while I waited for things to begin.
I t was the perfect thing to do; I mean, etching it in my mind because the reality of that image was not true. I awakened in my chair.
